Sad is the life of a soldier,
They have given their life,
To join in the strife,
Of keeping safe your life,

And through the eyes,
Leads, though some despise,
To the windows of pain and suffering,
A glass pane displays the emotion,
Up on a hearth sits a heart bled from devotion,

Pride for their country,
Strong little boys,
Hearts trained to be stone,
Some will die alone,

Blindly they trust,
The orders given, they must,
For one mistake,
Is all it would take,
For everything to shatter,
And make nothing matter,

Afraid for the attack,
To feel the sharp pain,
He wants to come back,
Oh to come back, and not to lack,
An embrace,

They protect,
And don't reject,
The call of a person in need,
The fall of kingdom indeed,
Is when compassion is gone,
Long gone,

So, sad is the life of a soldier.
